We have all heard the term “quiet luxury”, especially as it translates to fashion. It is used to describe timeless style that is made up of expensive or one of a kind investment pieces that are not trendy and will be around for the ages. They don’t scream with labels and logos, they are simple in design but enduring in their look and construction.
Quiet luxury is the interior design style that will be very prominent in 2024. Although, calling it a trend is incorrect. It is not a trend. It has been, and will continue to be, the epitome of timeless style, both in interiors and in fashion. It is characterized by elevated materials, warm hues and elegance. Think warm wood tones, generational antiques, subtle patterns and muted colors. Nothing should be too bold or ornate. No one piece should stand out. All furnishings should work in concert with one another to achieve a comfortable yet enduring space.
As a designer, I firmly believe in purchasing furniture and using materials that will stand the test of time. The focus should be on the quality and craftsmanship of the furniture and accessories. Get the best sofa you can with clean lines and comfortable cushions, constructed by hand so they can be adjusted and reupholstered over the years as needed. Purchase furniture pieces that are made out of quality woods so that they can take on the age and patina that are created over years of ownership.
“When you buy the best, you only cry once.” – Miles Redd
