Our “From Stuck to Stunning” interior design project in Kannapolis, North Carolina, is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can completely transform a home stuck in the past into a bright, inviting, and functional space for modern family life.
A Whole-Home Refresh with Purpose
This project was a full-scale renovation of the entire downstairs level, including the kitchen, laundry room, keeping room, bar, living room, and primary suite. The existing space was dominated by dark cherry cabinets, dated finishes, and a heavy palette that didn’t reflect the energy or lifestyle of our clients.
Our mission? Lighten, brighten, and bring every space into alignment with the way this family—and their five dogs!—actually lives.
Family- and Pet-Friendly Finishes
Function was just as important as style in this project. With a busy household and multiple pets, durability was key. We selected high-performance fabrics for upholstery, easy-to-clean surfaces, and materials that could stand up to everyday wear while still feeling elevated.
From the stunning quartzite countertops in the kitchen to the cozy-yet-resilient fabrics in the living and keeping rooms, every choice was made with comfort, beauty, and longevity in mind.
Light and Bright Design, Tailored to Real Life
One of the most dramatic changes was removing the dark cherry cabinetry throughout the home and replacing it with a lighter, more timeless palette. Soft neutrals, warm wood tones, and subtle blues created a soothing and welcoming backdrop for daily living.
In the kitchen, a custom walnut island anchors the space, complemented by Thermador appliances and a beautiful tumbled marble mosaic backsplash. The laundry room now features charming dog-themed wallpaper and even has a dedicated dishwasher just for dog bowls—because thoughtful design is in the details.
The Final Result
What was once a dated and disjointed downstairs is now a cohesive, stylish, and livable space that feels fresh and personal. Our clients no longer feel “stuck”—they’re thrilled to call their beautifully renovated home a true reflection of their lifestyle and taste.
