Do you know what they are? Every home office needs these 3 things to be a success. They aren’t what you think. Here’s how we incorporate them in to every office we design.
Personalization – if you are going to spend that much time in 1 room of your home, it should be tailored to the people using it. Personalizing your space to your design aesthetic is integral to achieving a high level of productivity. Make sure the colors and textures get you excited to be in your office. They should make you feel all of the good vibes and give you energy to tackle anything that gets thrown at your throughout your day. That doesn’t mean bright colors, it just means the colors that make you feel the best.
Privacy– we have all had those moments of someone waking behind us while we are on a zoom call or the cat jumping on to the keyboard. And while we love the flexibility of working from home, keeping the home office private helps eliminate distractions. Make sure to have doors and windows that can be closed off from the rest of the house. Rugs and window treatments can help dampen sound from outside the office. The further away from the hub of the home you can set up your office, the better. That way your family doesn’t have to feel like they are walking on eggshells while you are working.
Plugs– are there ever enough of them in a home office? Making sure plugs are in the places you need them is huge for a successful home office. Nobody wants cords everywhere that you can trip on or get tangled in. Floor outlets are a must. Desks with integrated outlets are a wonderful addition to a home office as well. Charging stations that can be hidden in cabinetry are a beautiful design element too.
Integrating these 3 P’s will ensure that you have the perfect home office set up in order to get your job done well, no matter what that is!
